News in brief
THE NEXT MATCHES
The weekend ahead will be a busy one, and the RFL Senior Division's match of the day see's the Dean travel to Scours Lane for a date with title favourites Highmoor in a 2.30pm kick off.
Meanwhile the Reserves are at home in the Premier Division to AFC Corinthians.
COLIN MOORE
Club stalwart and Cookham Dean legend Colin Moore celebrates his birthday when he will be 60 years old this weekend.
Colin first played for the Dean in 1968 and was a first team regular when the side won the Berks and Bucks Junior Cup in 1970.
His awesome free kicks were a trade mark but everyone will remember Colin mainly for playing with a smile on his face during a distinguished and eventful career. He was fiercely loyal to Cookham Dean but also played on Sundays for the successful Hedsor side.
Personally I can remember one mid week game in particular when we played against Courage's in a top of the table clash. I had one of my best ever games for the Dean but Colin was Man of the Match and scored both goals in a 2-1 victory. It was simply a pleasure to be in the same team as the old scallywag in those days.
Moorie ending up playing 697 games for the Dean and was certainly one of the most respected players in the area.
Colin is still very much involved at the Dean of course, he is on the committee and also Manager of the Under 18's side, in which his son Jamie plays.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY COLIN
SCOTT ALLEN
Also this Saturday first team Captain Scott Allen get's married at Kew gardens, which is obviously a bit of a disgrace with the team in action at the Ibis Club, we should really send a telegram for the best man to read out about this, GETTING MARRIED v FOOTBALL.
Well I hope the action after Match of the Day finishes is worth it !
GOOD LUCK SCOTTIE
In actual fact the defence will have a completely different look this week with Chris Ellis also away on holiday giving Dave Clarke a bit of a headache ahead of one off the toughest games of the season. ( So do'nt feel guilty at all Scott will you)
