The Dean travelled to Theale for what promised to be an open game. Cookham played some flowing attacking game, pinning Theale in their half for most of the first half. The back line sweeping up any threat from the Theale attackers. By half time the Dean should've been 3-0 up after a glut of guilt edged chances went begging. The second half was scrappier and from the off Cookham couldn't maintain the control they'd demonstrated in the first half, but remained the better team. The defence looked water tight and on the hour the introduction of two of the Reserve teams stars, Kenny and Stephen Eaton looked to have paid off as Kenny sliced through the Theale defence only to be thwarted by the goalkeeper. With 5 minutes to go Dave Eales made an uncharacteristically clumsy tackle in the box giving Theale the opportunity to snatch, what surely would've been the winner. The striker in question had previously missed a penalty against us in the home fixture, and skipper, Ollie Webb reminded him of it. Simon Eaton in the sticks made a great save to keep the scores level. It was a good game which should've given us all three points but it's always a tough place to go. MOM for the first team on Saturday was Richard Webb who was immense at the back!
The first team now have a break until the 17th December due to the RFL Rep game next week.
