Cookham Dean (Sunday) hammered five goals without reply past Desborough Royals in their Bob Smith trophy match thanks to superb finishing from their forwards. Man of the match Nathan Lishman showed his class with a brilliant hat trick and his corners set up Cookham's two other goals. The 5:0 scoreline was a little harsh on Desborough who failed to make the most of their early opportunities and were twice denied by the woodwork. Aaron Lennon opened the scoring for Cookham with a header from a Lishman corner. Dean Knight got the second with an even more emphatic header before Lishman struck his first goal, a stunning 30 yard volley after Mark Knight headed on a Cookham goal kick. Lishman's second was a clever flick from the edge of the box over the advancing Desborough keeper after a fine pass from David Olver. With a 4:0 half-time lead Lishman got his hat-trick with the only goal in the second half when he was put through by Jason Strowger and drove home powerfully from a tight angle. Cookham then had to withstand 20 minutes of sustained pressure when they were reduced first to 10 men, when midfielder Aaron Steadman was harshly red carded, then to nine and eight men when having used their two substitutes, both their full backs were forced off the pitch in quick succession with injuries.
