Cookham Dean (Sunday) returned to winning ways with a deserved 2:0 win over Slough Lions in the Bob Smith trophy. Although missing a number of regular players Cookham took control of the game early on and created some promising openings without testing the Lions keeper. The opening goal was a deflected effort by Mark Knight from brother Dean Knight's powerful free-kick .This came after Mark had somehow managed to miss from close range with the goal at his mercy after a brilliant run and cross by man of the match Lee Jerum. Cookham extended their lead early in the second half when Jerum supplied Nathan Lishman who drove home from the edge of the box. Cookham's defence was then put under pressure for the first time in the match but with centre halves Dan Wilson and Dean Knight in great form, Lions were restricted to half chances though they did hit the crossbar from a free kick. Keeper Aaron O'Brien also had to make two smart saves to ensure Cookham came away with a clean sheet.
