Cookham Dean made it three wins out of three in Division 1 as they crushed Kings Head 5::1. Cookham started strongly and soon went in front when James Gisbourne’s pass found Lee Miles whose delicate chip from the edge of the box beat the keeper at his far post. The skill and pace of Cookham’s dangerous forwards continued to pose problems for the Kings Head defence and the lead was extended when Mark Knight coolly slotted home with time to spare after being set up by Nathan Lishman. Substitutes Dean Knight and Jason Strowger came on at half-time with the score at 2:0, and both had a hand in Cookham’s other goals, but not before Kings Head pulled one goal back with a header after a momentary lapse in concentration in the Cookham defence. James Gisbourne put the result beyond doubt with the third goal, when he ran on to Strowger’s pass to beat the full back and round the keeper. Jamie Hanscombe netted the fourth with a close range finish at the far post from Dean Knight’s free kick. Knight then headed Nathan Lishman’s free-kick across goal for Gisbourne to bundle in his second and Cookham’s fifth goal. Some of Kings Head’s players including a substituted player let their tempers get the better of them when they started a scuffle, which led the referee, who had already booked 4 of their players, to abandon the game with just one minute of normal time remaining.
