After getting off to a fine start to the season with two wins in the first week the Reserves settled down and enjoyed a steady campaign. The pattern of win one lose one was roughly the story of 2009/10.
However the side did hit a purple patch in November and December when the four games played produced an amazing 30 goals for Cookham with leading scorer Dean Knight on fire in front of goal.
A good run in the Berks & Bucks Junior Cup was certainly one of the highlights of the season and that run was only ended when a weakened side faced eventual finalists YMCA Rapids in the 5th Round.
The teams form towards the end of the campaign didn’t do justice to what had happened earlier in the season but in the end a seventh place finish in the Premier Division was a vast improvement on the previous season.
Dean Knight ended up with a superb 34 goals from the 34 games he played in and the Golden Boot winner does indeed deserve special praise, he also scooped the Players Player of the Year award.
Manager Ali Wells stepped down from the role at the end of the season after one and a half years at the helm, and his last duty was to name the outstanding defender Chris Houghton as Managers Player of the Year
