Cookham Deans Senior side are the Reading Senior Division champions. In an end of season showdown at Marlows Wilkes Park, Cookhams first team produced a footballing display to savour and they ended the season by winning the title on the very last day, the record shows they did it by scoring more goals than has ever been done before , the team conceded fewer than has ever been done before , and reached a record points tally .At one stage of the season Cookham were a massive 15 points behind the leaders, but a stunning 24 match unbeaten run, which included doing the double over the defending Champions, saw the Dean clinch the title in a thrilling finale .Manager Terry Claydon said "The players have been magnificent, and I am delighted for them and everyone involved with the club .
Cookham also played arguably some of the best Football ever seen at local league level and thoroughly deserved the coveted title. With a team that are always willing to work so hard for each other, and which showed so much ability, the key was that the number
of clean sheets achieved as a whole ensured they became worthy champions, and with such a passionate and honest Manager, together with his staff ,(namely Dave Harrison and Neil Fryer) showing such attention to detail, that title was not only won, but won in style ,that is because this fine group discovered the true success of real Champions -
"The strength of the collective unit".
