Football changes from week to week, and that's a fact. Two weeks ago The Dean gave one of their best performances of the season against YMCA but last week we struggled to find the same level of performance in the Cup.
However as Manager Dave Clarke said after the game " You cannot fault the players, they gave everything, but it just wasn't our day". One major incident, the Ollie Webb sending off, changed the entire game, and that is Football in a nutshell.
The margin's between success and failure a ?
This weeks trip to the Ibis Club is another re-arranged fixture, the game was originally scheduled for 27 February, and if it had gone ahead then it would have been a very interesting encounter.
Cookham were on top form at that point and firing on 'virtually' all cylinders.
This week however is one of those 'other' weeks that are not un-typical in grassroots football it seems, when things are not running quite as smoothly. Skipper Scott Allen is getting married on Saturday and coach Karl Curtis amongst others is on the guest list. Meanwhile Chris Ellis has gone on holiday to the Dominican Republic to compound Clarkie's selection problems.
Highmoor are now only a few points away from the Senior title and are without a doubt the most consistant side, and after suffering just one defeat in the League this season who can say they don't deserve it.
